How Membership Rewards Works
Membership Rewards (MR) is American Express's transferable points currency. Instead of locking you into one airline, MR points transfer to 8+ airline partners including Qantas, Velocity, Singapore KrisFlyer and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles.
What MR Points Are Worth
We value MR points at 1.2–2.0 cents each — the highest range of any Australian program, because flexibility itself has value: you only transfer once you've found award seats worth booking.
Best Ways to Earn
- The ANZ Explorer earns 1.5 pts/$ with a 75,000-point bonus (as at October 2026).
- The Amex Platinum Charge earns 2.25 pts/$ with a 150,000-point bonus for high spenders.
- The Business Explorer offers 100,000 bonus points on business spend.
